Please take note that there is no Library CCA on Monday (16/2/15)  as the teachers are down for P6 centralised marking.

Thank you.

More photos from the library visit!!!

Guess where is this place?

Well, it is the Bamboo Garden and it's in the Central Library. It has a very relaxed surroundings plus it is outdoor! As such, you will find yourself want to just grab a book and read...

Next, we moved indoors and were attracted to the book display which was standing right in front of the entrance.  To our surprise, empty boxes are used to create it. Hmmm, maybe we can create one for our library?

The librarians have been waiting for this... The children's zone!!! There's a tree house in it where you can climb up to read.

This Super Mario feature is made with none other than recycled boxes.

The much talk about tree house and the ceiling is made up of recycled mineral water bottles...

Time to do some work...

Visit to the Central Library (National Library Board)

On 09 February 2015, our student librarians visited the Central Library.

They were shown around the Children's Library by a librarian from the National Library Board.

Here are some of their reflections.

Madeleine Fung Sum Yee P.6/7

I found my trip at the Central Library rather exciting! One of the librarians there introduced us to many different parts of the library, and they were extremely big on the environment! All of their decorations and some of their bookshelves were made of recycled materials, like cardboard and toilet rolls. They also emphasized the importance of the environment on the whole atmosphere of the library.

I especially liked a treehouse that they had placed in the kids' section of the library. There was also an outdoor bamboo garden, where people could sit on chairs and enjoy the breezy ambience while reading outside.

The part I enjoyed most during the trip was when all of us could borrow books. Most of the books were on the environment, of which I greatly enjoyed!

Overall, I enjoyed my trip at the Central Library!

Chong May Ping Caryn Ariel P.6/1

The trip to the Central Library was certainly an interesting and exciting one. I learnt a lot! There was one librarian who brought us around the library and there were so many interesting things to see!

We saw a lot of nice things and places like the garden. Do you know that the Central Library is the first green library IN THE WORLD?

In the Children's section, there was a ‘treehouse’ where children could go up and read their books. The leaves of the trees were made of plastic bottles that were collected from the public and the birds and animals on the tree were made from cardboard.

Overall, I really enjoyed the trip to the Central Library!

Chester Eng Zi Hao P.6/1

The experience was amazing, we saw many things. The library was designed with a rain forest theme. The library has a brick wall which is fascinating because it was made from bricks from the old Central Library.

We visited the Kids' area. It has a huge tree which we can go up. The tree is a story-telling area and a place to read.

What was interesting to see was the Mario and monkey, which were made entirely out of recycled material.

I would certainly like to go again. It’s the best library I have been to.
